Installing Transflo

Get the current release from the official GitHub releases. Open the DMG and drag Transflo into Applications, then open it there. It requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple silicon Mac.

Current direct-download releases may not be notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks a release you downloaded from the official source, review the warning and use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway only if you trust it. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally. See Apple’s guidance for opening Mac apps.

I opened it, but where is it?

Look in the menu bar at the top of your Mac screen. The Transflo icon opens Settings, Jobs, Getting Started, and Check for Updates. Getting Started normally appears on your first launch, and you can replay it from that menu.

Keys to a smoother workflow

Default shortcuts, customizable in Settings
While draggingOpens
⇧ ShiftConvert wheel
⌘ CommandTools wheel
⌃ ControlActions wheel

For selected files in Finder, press ⌥⌘Return. Arrow keys choose an option, Return applies it, and Esc cancels. The Finder Quick Action is another entry point. Change bindings in Settings → Keys.

A conversion or tool is missing

The wheel shows options supported by every selected file. Try one file first, check Settings → Wheel for hidden choices, and confirm any required app is installed. iWork conversions may need Pages, Keynote, or Numbers. Some audio/video options need the bundled media helpers.

A job failed or cannot reach a size limit

Check Jobs for the reason. Confirm the original file still exists, that there is free disk space, and that Transflo can read the input and write to the output folder. Some files cannot be compressed to a very small target without losing too much quality. Try a quality preset or a larger size limit.

Editing and batch selections

Most tools open an editor before processing. Mute remains immediate. In a batch, the preview may show the first source while the chosen settings apply to all sources. If a page or time range does not fit every source, adjust the selection or edit the files separately. Single-image tools reject animated or multipage images so extra frames are not silently lost.

Where are appearance and wheel controls?

Open Settings from the menu bar. General contains language, appearance, accent, feedback, Liquid Glass, and Reduce Motion. Wheel contains format, tool, and action visibility plus wheel size. Formats contains supported outputs and shared output defaults; Compatibility shows supported conversion routes.

Permissions

Review Finder or iWork access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. Review protected folder access and Notifications separately. Grant only the permissions needed for the feature you want.
